FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION ISSUES ADVISORY CIRCULAR ON NOISE STANDARDS.
On October 12, 2017, the FAA issued AC 36-4D - Noise Standards: Aircraft Type and Airworthiness Certification. Purpose. This AC intends to promote uniformity of implementation of part 36 of the noise certification requirements of the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 14 and provides: (1) guidance to certifying authorities and applicants regarding the intended meaning and stringency of the Standards in part 36 as amended through the October 4, 2017 (amendment 36-31), and (2) the specific procedures that are deemed acceptable in demonstrating compliance with those Standards. Scope. This AC provides information for interested parties such as regulatory authorities, aircraft manufacturers, acoustic consultants, airline and airport operators, and others, on compliance with part 36 noise certification regulations as well as information on flight test windows and adjustment of land-use planning for rotorcraft as developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Cancellations. This AC cancels AC 36-4C, Noise Standards: Aircraft Type and Airworthiness Certification, dated July 15, 2003.
