FAA EXTENDS COMMENT DEADLINE ON CONTRACT MAINTENANCE NPRM
Today, FAA extended the comment period for the Air Carrier Contract Maintenance Requirements proposed rule. In the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM), FAA proposed to change the maintenance regulations for domestic, flag, and supplemental operations, as well as commuter and on-demand operations for aircraft with a passenger seating configuration of 10 seats or more (excluding pilot seats). This rulemaking would require these operators to develop policies for performing contract maintenance that are FAA acceptable and to also include them in the operator’s maintenance manuals. Operators would also be required to submit a list of all contract maintenance providers to FAA.
At the request of the Regional Air Cargo Carriers Association (RACCA), FAA extended the comment period closing date, which was originally scheduled to close on February 11, 2013. Comments are now due on or before March 13, 2013. If you have any questions about the proposed rule or would like assistance in the preparation or submission of comments, please contact our office.
