FAA ANNOUNCES AIP NOTIFICATION DEADLINES

Today, the FAA announced&May 1, 2013&as the deadline for each airport sponsor to notify the FAA whether it will use its fiscal year 2013 entitlement funds, available under 49 USC § 47105(f).& This notice applies to entitlement funds used to accomplish Airport Improvement Program (AIP) eligible projects that the sponsor identified through the Airports Capital Improvement Plan (ACIP) process during the preceding year.

The sponsor’s notification must address all entitlement funds apportioned for fiscal year 2013, as well as any funds unused from prior years.& Airports who have entitlement funds apportioned to them, except nonprimary airports located in designated Block Grant States, shall submit a written notification by 12:00 p.m. prevailing local time on& May 1, 2013.& The notice shall be sent to the designated Airports District Office (or Regional Office in regions without Airports District Offices) indicating the airport’s intent to submit a grant application no later than close of business & July 26, 2013.

Airport sponsors that do not submit a final grant application to the FAA by June 28, 2013 should notify the FAA of any issues with meeting the July 26, 2013 final application deadline.

Absent notification by & May 1, 2013 and/or subsequent notification of any issues by the June 28, 2013 deadline, all remaining funds will be carried over after July 26, 2013, and will not be available until at least the beginning of fiscal year 2014.
