CBP ANNOUNCES MODIFICATIONS TO THE NATIONAL CUSTOMS AUTOMATION PROGRAM
Today, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced modifications to the National Customs Automation Program (NCAP) test concerning simplified entry functionality in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).
Participant selection criteria is revised to reflect that while importer self-filers must still hold a Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) Tier 2 or higher, the C-TPAT status of an importer for whom a customs broker files a Simplified Entry is no longer an eligibility criterion. In addition, the test is no longer limited to nine (9) participants.
The Simplified Entry test modifications are effective August 14, 2012. Applications to participate in this test must be received by CBP within fourteen (14) business days from August 14, 2012.
