FAA ISSUES FINAL RULE ON OVERFLIGHT FEES

On November 29, 2016, the FAA issued a final rule on Update of Overflight Fee Rates. This rule becomes effective January 1, 2017.

The FAA has issued Draft AC 21-XXX on Incorporation of Supplemental Type Certificates into Type-Certificated Products by the Type Certificate Holders. The FAA seeks industry comments based on the draft AC for inclusion in the AC. All comments must be received by January 6, 2017.

FAA ISSUES ADVISORY CIRCULAR ON ANTI-MISFUELING DEVICES, AVAILABILITY AND USE.

On November 17, 2016, the FAA updated and re-issued AC 20-122A on Anti-Misfueling Devices: Their Availability and Use – Change 1. The previous version was issued on January 29, 1991.

DOT INSPECTOR GENERAL ISSUES AUDIT REPORT ON IMPACTS OF THE TARMAC DELAY RULE.

On October 26, 2016, the DOT IG issued a report with its findings of an audit conducted on the effects of the Tarmac Delay Rule on Airline Cancellations and Delays.

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (DOT) ISSUES THIRD “ENHANCING AIRLINE PASSENGER PROTECTIONS” FINAL RULE

On November 3, 2016, the DOT issued a third Final Rule on Enhancing Airline Passenger Protections in an effort to further enhance protections for air travelers and to improve the air travel environment while also promoting competition in the airline industry. This final rule will become effective December 5, 2016.

The Secretary of Transportation transmitted the 2017-2021 National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) to Congress on September 30, 2016.
